Kuwait- Trump threatens to cut off funding to schools that do not reopen


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, July 8 (KUNA) -- US President Donald trump threatened Wednesday to "cut off funding" to schools that do not reopen and that he disagrees with the US Centers from disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on their "tough guidelines" for opening schools.
"The Dems (Democrats) think it would be bad for them Politically if US schools open before the November election, but is important for the children and families. May cut off funding if not open!" Trump tweeted.
In a separate tweet, Trump said he disagrees with the CDC "on their very tough and expensive guidelines for opening schools."
"While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things. I will be meeting with them!!!" he remarked.
On Tuesday, Trump said at a White House event "we're very much going to put pressure on governors and everybody else to open the schools, to get them open."
This comes as about 36 states across the US are witnessing a rise in new coronavirus cases as the confirmed cases nationwide is near three million and over 131,000 deaths. (end)
