Qatar- Administrative Control and Transparency Authority President: Public officials' code of conduct to come into effect soon


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) H E Hamad bin Nasser Al Misned, said yesterday that a code of conduct and integrity for public officials will come into effect soon, after the Cabinet issued its decision number 18 for 2020 on issuing a code of conduct and integrity for public officials.
He noted that the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority was in charge of preparing the code of conduct, in the framework of completing the system required for state institutions to carry out their duties efficiently and capably, in order to increase transparency and integrity in the state and enhance trust in public office as well as to provide more protection to public money. 
He added that the provisions of the code of conduct will be applicable to all civil employees at ministries and other governmental bodies. He stressed that the code of conduct for public officials is one of the mandates of  the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority in line with item No. 5 of article No. 5 of Amiri decision no. 6 of 2015 on regulating the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority.
H E President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority noted that the code of conducts comes also in the framework of the commitment to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), particularly Article No. 8 which was dedicated to codes of conduct for public officials. The State of Qatar ratified the agreement in decree no. 17 of 2007. 
He pointed out the State of Qatar's achievements in the field of enhancing integrity, transparency, and anti-corruption is reflected in international indicators on the topics. He added that the authority is constantly working on maintaining that level of excellency. 
He said that the authority will work in the coming period on launching a plan that raises awareness on the code of conduct and the importance of having employees adhere to it. P2
