World Bank issues USD100 million financial aid to Bangladesh to fight coronavirus

The world bank has issued a total of USD100 million in financial aid to Bangladesh to aid he country in its fights against the spread of coronaviurs as the number of the registered coronavirus cases in the country came in at 70 on Saturday.

Head of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) under the Health Ministry in Bangladesh, Meerjady Sabrina Flora, said that the number of coronavirus related deahts in the country has increased to 8 as two more deahts were reigsted on Saturday, the total number of cases also increased 9, the largest one day increase in cases the country saw so far.

The official added that the most recent two coronavirus deaths are a 90 years old and a 68 years old, a total of 434 poeple have been tested for the disease in the past 24 hours.

The financial aid of the world bank is aimed to support the country to stop and curn the spread of the virus and to strengthen its public health emergencies national systems.

The bank said that "This project will support the implementation of Bangladesh's national plan to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic".

Adding that "It will help strengthen the country's response by ensuring that effective surveillance and diagnostic systems are in place and that medical supplies, personal protective equipment, ventilators and isolation units are available in designated hospitals".
