Seventeen killed in Syrian air strike in Idlib

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- At least 17 people were killed in an air raid by the Syrian army in Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria on Saturday, said Anadolu news agency.
Regime warplanes targeted Idlib's city center, Maarrat Al-Numan and Saraqib districts earlier today, the agency quoted a rescue group who call themselves "the Syrian civil defense" as saying, adding that among the dead are two children.
The attack also injured 50 more people, said the group, who are also known as the 'White Helmets'.
On Friday, Turkey's defense ministry announced reaching an agreement with Russia on ceasefire in Idlib starting mid Sunday night.

Turkey and Russia agreed in September 2018 to turn Idlib into a de-escalation zone, where acts of aggression are prohibited. (end)
