Bangladesh- Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry forms probe body over Biman 'hijacking'

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: A probe committee has been formed to investigate yesterday's Biman plane hijacking incident at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport by Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry.
Additional Secretary of the ministry Md Mokabbir Hossain is leading the five-member probe body, said a press release issued from the ministry.
The committee was formed under direct orders from Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister, Civil Aviation and Tourism in the early hours of today.
Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport was shut for hours during a hijacking attempt which led to the suspect's death in army operation last evening.
All airport operations resumed after 8 pm yesterday when the suspect was finally neutralised.
The alleged hijacker is a young man named Mahadi in his mid-20s. He had a pistol in his possession.
However, all the 148 passengers and cabin crew members were safely evacuated.
This is the only probe committee formed over the incident so far.
