Kuwaiti acquitted of assaulting another in traffic 'altercation'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Jaber Al-Humoud Arab Times Staff and Agencies KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: The Criminal Court acquitted a citizen of beating his compatriot on the Second Ring Road due to a dispute concerning traffic movement. The court referred the lawsuit to the civil circuit. The plaintiff said he was driving his car along the Second Ring Road when he had an argument with the defendant over the right of way. He explained that the defendant left his vehicle and physically attacked him using a knife through which he was injured in the left shoulder and arm. He added the defendant gave him severe beating. Attorney Ali Al-Alanda, on behalf of the plaintiff, requested temporary compensation of KD 5001, saying his client suffered material and moral damages due to the attack.

Detention extended: Detention Renewal Judge has decided to extend the detention of a lawyer, journalist and an employee of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to Aug 28 for further investigations concerning the case referred to as 'Ateej Al-Mesyan'. Reportedly, the suspects are accused of insulting His Highness the Amir and the judicial authority among others, spreading false news, and publishing official documents belonging to government authorities.
