Zelensky, Moon discuss cooperation between Ukraine and NATO

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Madeleine Moon, the press service of the head of state has reported.

During the meeting on June 26, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Alliance, in particular the implementation of reforms aimed at bringing Ukraine closer to NATO standards.

The sides also touched upon the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine in the framework of the Minsk format, the return of the Russian delegation to the PACE and the necessity of the release of captive Ukrainian sailors.

The head of state confirmed the immutability of the strategic course of Ukraine towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

He also thanked the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for its strong and solid support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In addition, Zelensky expressed hope that the observers of the Parliamentary Assembly would be present at the extraordinary elections to the Verkhovna Rada on July 21, as it was important for Ukraine.

"These elections are not only the request and demand of our society. This is not just my political decision to dissolve the Parliament. Besides the request of society, this is a significant number of reforms and bills that our country needs, and the impossibility of their adoption by the current Verkhovna Rada," the president said.
