Pres. of Kurdistan region of Iraq calls on US firms for investment


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, June 24 (KUNA) -- President of Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, on Monday called on US companies to invest in the region.
In a statement, the presidency of the Kurdistan region said that Barzani's invitation came during a meeting with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran Andrew Beck and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Barzani praised US aid during the difficult periods, and highly valued the visit of the delegation of the US Chamber of Commerce to the region and the signing of several memorandums of understanding, the statement added.
Barzani noted that US companies could benefit from the Kurdistan region as a gateway to reach the whole of Iraq.
Kurdistan regional government will provide all facilities to US companies that will work in the economic and commercial sector, he added.
The Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Kurdistan region signed with the representative of the US Commerce Department on Sunday in Irbil trade agreements. (end)
