Pompeo visits KSA, UAE to discuss tension with Iran


(MENAFN) The U.S secretary of state Mark Pompeo announced on Sunday that he"s heading to Saudi Arabia and UAE to discuss the Iranian tension; he reiterated his offer to negotiate unconditionally with Iran to reduce the tension at the region.

In a press conference before his departure he informed the press that "to discuss how to make sure that we"re all at the same line, in addition to how we form a worldwide alliance about Iran, he added "we"re able to start unconditional negotiations, they know exactly where to find us.", "I"m sure that when they are ready to communicate with us, we are capable to start the discussions".

The U.S special envoy to Iran Bryan Hook declared that his country "isn"t interested in a military conflict with Iran ", but he insisted on keep pressing them through sanctions until they change their harmful behavior in the region"

The tension between the two countries has risen since the withdrawal of the U.S in May 2018 from the international agreement about Iran"s nuclear program reached in Vienna 2015, and its return to impose severe sanctions on Iran, to deprive Iran of the economic gains it had hoped to obtain from the agreement, the tension increased after Iran was shot down a U.S marlin on Thursday, Tehran has confirmed that the U.S aircraft penetrated its airspace, which Washington denies.
According to president Trumps declaration on Twitter, he claims that as a reaction to Iran"s attack on the U.S marlin, Washington has planned to a military strike, but he aborted the mission in the last minutes.

The attack on the plane follows the U.S surge in tension between Iran and the United States following attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf region that Washington accused Tehran of carrying out, which Tehran strongly denied.
