1 policeman murdered, 3 wounded in Iraq's Salahudin


(MENAFN) On Wednesday, a policeman was murdered and three other injured when Iraqi troops deterred an Islamic State (IS) attack on an oilfield in the central province of Salahudin.

The incident occurred in the evening when Daesh terrorists launched an attack against targets of security forces aimed at protecting the Allas oilfield, approximately 40 km east of the provincial capital Tikrit, Mohammed al-Bazi, from Salahudin's provincial police, informed Xinhua.

The forces went thorough severe fights with Daesh terrorists and deterred them from vancing on their positions, al-Bazi emphasized, adding that the fights ended up with the murder of one policeman and wound of three more.

According to al-Bazi, it was not directly clear whether Daesh terrorists sustained any victims, as they escaped the scene after reinforcements arrived.
