Kuwait- Some countries remain unaware of 'iqama' stickers cancellation

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, May 21: Some Arab and foreign countries have not yet reacted to the decision of the government of Kuwait about cancellation of residence permit stickers on passports of expatriates and have yet to come to terms on the issue of considering the civil ID instead of the passport, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

The diplomatic sources said the embassies accredited to Kuwait have informed their respective governments of the decision of the Kuwaiti government to cancel the residence permit stickers, but Arab and foreign countries have yet to adapt to the mechanism.

The sources explained that the electronic application for visas to some countries from expatriates living in Kuwait are often rejected because the concerned authority looks for the residence sticker while the issue is easy when visiting the embassy of the country.
