Palestinian garment, textile sector receives Japanese fund

(MENAFN) Palestine will be granted USD446,428 of financing from Japan to strengthen its garment and textile sector along with opening new job opportunities in the market.

This is among nine USD5.8 million initiatives the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Japan are commencing.

Under the project, the Palestinian garment and textile value chain will see a boost in its competitiveness with new design and a training programme that prioritizes creativity.

UNIDO project Manager Marlen Bakalli stated "by promoting creativity, not only innovation and economic competitiveness are fostered, but also many individuals, including young men and women, are encouraged to develop creative approaches for starting new industrial ventures with a vision towards the future transformation of their societies."
