Kenya, China to sign legal assistance agreement

(MENAFN) A joint legal aid deal is expected to be penned between Kenya and China with an aim to cooperate in the battle against corruption.

Kenya inked the legal assistance document before handing it out for the Chinese government, unveiled CEO of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Twalib Mbarak on Monday.

According to the CEO, "the mutual legal assistance agreement will help to combat economic crimes by enabling cooperation between Kenya and Chinese investigative agencies to trace and recover proceeds of crime that are transferred between the two nations."

Mbarak added that legal agreements are considered significant since the boost in globalization turned corruption into a crucial transnational crime.
