Qatar's Thulasi to go for gold at Arab boxing today

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar's Thulasi Tharumalingam will compete for gold medal in the second edition of Arab Elite Boxing Championships for men in the 69 kg category when he faces his Algerian counterpart Chamseddin Kramo on the final day of the championship, which began on March 17.
In the run-up to the title clash, Thulasi picked up victories, including one against his Moroccan rival Sofiane al-Tachi on Wednesday in a strong match after three rounds.
In preparation for today's final, Thulasi trained yesterday under the supervision of coach Juan Carlos, who praised the boxer's performance so far, stressing his ability to win the gold medal, if he continued to fight at the same level and with great concentration.
Thulasi has represented Qatar at all levels of boxing in the recent years including at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships.
The Arab Elite Boxing Championships is being organized by Sudan for the second time in a row, with the participation of Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Palestine and Syria, besides the hosts themselves.
