Amman, March 5 (Petra) -- Russia may be forced to deploy missiles capable of striking the entire European continent if the Washington deploys such weapons in the region, Sputnik news reported Tuesday.

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov late Monday said at the Stimson Center in Washington, DC, said "we are very much concerned that after the decision of the United States to withdraw from INF, missiles could be deployed on the territory of European allies," according to Sputnik.

"We will be forced to deploy our missiles, and here you will see that the whole territory of European countries will be covered," the ambassador added.

The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) between the US and the Union Of Soviet Socialist Republics banned both countries from developing, producing, and deploying ground-launched cruise or ballistic missiles with ranges between 500 and 5,500 kilometers.
