Cuba sees decline in 2018 population

(MENAFN) Cuba recorded a significant decline in its population last year, with more than 11,000 people down compared to 2017.

National Statistics Bureau (NSB) deputy director Juan Carlos Alfonso noted that this decrease in population has been ongoing in the last thirty years.

From 2017 figures, the NSB deputy director revealed, Cuba's population stood at 11,208,000 people by the end of last year.

Results pushed the Cuban government to set up in 2014 a commission "to stimulate the birth rate and watch for the needs of the increasing number of elders."
