Nile State Governor praises Qatar's development projects in Sudan

Khartoum:The Governor of the Nile State in northern Sudan, General Hatem Al Wasila Al Samani, hailed the great successes achieved by the development projects carried out by the State of Qatar in his state which contributed positively and productivity to the national economy.

The Sudanese official, in his statement to Sudan Radio said that during the Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir's visit to the Nile State from February 26 to 28, he will open the Qatari projects that will bring unprecedented changes and in the region and turn them into a dynamic economic platform with international standards.

The Qatari projects include the opening of the electricity project in the city of Abu Hamad at a cost of $210m, including four transformer stations and modern towers that will provide electricity for 50 years to accommodate the development of the region in the fields of industry agriculture and mining especially gold, in addition to the opening of development projects in the areas of health, sports, culture and education and a number of economic roads to link the production areas with consumption areas and ports in the Red Sea State east of the country.

The Governor noted that the Qatari projects in his country provided a successful model for investments, which was at the forefront of investments in the state and involved 28 countries from around the world.

He also pointed out that the Qatar Charity has built 6 integrated water plants in the Nile, costing more than 10 million riyals, providing more than $140m to the Nile and North Nile states for the discovery of historical monuments in the two states, followed by the cost of repairs, design and maintenance, where more than 20 German missions in the state are funded by Qatar.

The Governor said that the largest Qatari projects in Sudan, which will be during the current year, is the agricultural oasis project in the East Kabushiya area of 481,000 acres funded by Qatar.
