Iran, Turkey, Russia committed to Syrian constitutional body formation

(MENAFN) Iran, Turkey and Russia are investing their utmost efforts towards the formation of a Syrian constitutional commission.

The three countries, according to their foreign ministers, are committed to create the commission through exploring mutual guidelines while joining hands with Syrian officials.

A joint statement said that the officials "expressed their conviction that these steps will lead to the launch of a viable and lasting Syrian-led, Syrian-owned and UN-facilitated political process in line with the decisions of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi and UN Security Council resolution 2252."

It added that the high-level officials emphasized their "strong commitment" to the Syrian sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity.
