Armenia begins snap parliamentary elections

(MENAFN) Armenia announced the commencement of its early parliamentary elections on Sunday after months of demonstrations staged to stand against the ruling party.

Armenians have rushed to cast their ballots in voting stations which opened at 8:00am local time, and are to close at 8:00pm local time.

The voter turnout out of the 2.5 million eligible voters has been projected to settle at about 60 percent by the end of the voting.

The snap elections were possible to take place after Nikol Pashinyan stepped down as prime minister in October, after being elected in May.
