(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Awadhi Wing of the Indian Social Club (ISC) recently organised an event titled 'Dussehra and Diwali Dhamaka' to celebrate festival of Dusshera, which symbolises the victory of good over evil and the festival of lights called Diwali.
This was the third event of the wing after the grand launch event, singing talent show Awadh Got Talent. The highly anticipated event took place at Al Falaj Hotel banquet hall. The event saw the gracious presence of Rakesh Adlakha, deputy chief of Mission Indian Embassy Muscat as chief guest, and Mahesh Chaudhary, country manager of Air India as guest of honour.
The other dignitaries present were Babu Rajendran, general sec of Indian Social Club, Ahmed Hakimi, Manzoor Ahmed, Liyaqat Ali and Mohd Hussain. The anchors for the evening were Aekta Nair and Shital Kumar and the welcome speech was given by Madhulika Gupta, co-convenor of Awadhi Wing. A thank you speech was given by Maanas Kapoor, sports secretary of Awadhi Wing. It was an evening full of entertainment which included cultural programmes, spot prizes as well as partying all night.
The cultural programmes of the event consisted of various dance numbers by talented people of all ages as well as evergreen musical numbers. Halfway through the programmes a light-hearted humorous skit was performed to keep the spirit going. During the programme, two raffle draws and a number of fun spot prizes with exciting surprises were conducted.
The programme ended with a bang, with everybody on the dance floor moving to the latest dance hits played back to back by the DJ. The event was attended by large number of families from Indian diaspora in Oman. All the guests were given goody bags as a token of the festive mood. The event was highly appreciated by all.
