(MENAFN) Iran's President Hassan Rouhani expressed condemnation to the foreign meddling witnessed in Qatar's internal matters.
The statement was made by the Iranian president during a meeting held in Tehran with Qatar's new ambassador to Tehran.
The president stressed that both Iran and Qatar were capable to build up close and strong ties over the years.
Tasnim news agency cited President Rouhani hailing relations between Iran and Qatar when it comes to regional matters, saying they have become tougher.
Rouhani criticized the foreign interference Qatar has been suffering from in its internal affairs, describing it as "unacceptable".
He further added: "we believe the Qatari nation is great and the Qatari authorities are also running their country with prudence."
