(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- The Arab League has called on the international community to pressure Israel into backtracking on plans of razing the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar in the occupied West Bank.
"No matter how oppressive the occupation forces are, the Palestinian people will not be denied of their inalienable rights," the Cairo-based bloc said in a statement on Sunday.
It urged the international community to intervene and put an end to the "atrocities" committed by Israeli forces, citing the 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre as a glaring example.
The statement warned of the grave consequences the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar would have on the prospects of the two-state solution, in addition to the displacement of thousands of families residing in the village.
An Israeli court has approved the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar village, the latest in a spate of recent events that have sparked an outcry from the Palestinians and much of the international community.
Khan al-Ahmar is situated on the outskirts of Jerusalem between two Israeli settlements. (end) mfm.hdr.nam
