Landmine blast kills 3 children in Kandahar


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Three children were killed and two others, including a man, injured in a landmine blast on a motorcycle in the Arghistan district of southern Kandahar province on Thursday, an official said.

Police Spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the people were travelling on a motorbike when struck a landmine.

He said police arrived at the site of the blast and evacuated the injured people to the hospital.

Since Wednesday, it was the second incident of landmine blast in the district.

Earlier, three persons of a family were killed and as many injured when a vehicle struck by a landmine blast.

Arghistan district situated to the southwest of the country sharing 100 kilometre of the Durand Line with Pakistan and often witnessed instability and violence. Taliban have strong presence in the district.
