Shallow earthquake rattles Philippines


(MENAFN) The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) declared that an earthquake measuring a 4.5-magnitude has startled Ilocos Norte province in northern Philippines.

Phivolcs added that the quake, which took place at 5:12 p.m. local time, struck 25 km deep into the ground, and 18 km northwest of Marcos town in Ilocos Norte.

The quake was sensed in close towns including Paoay, Bacarra, Pasuquin in Ilocos Norte province and Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Laoag City, Claveria in Cagayan province and Vigan City, according to Phivolcs.

Phivolcs announced that the quake wasn't strong enough to cause victims or damages.
