Taking a dig at PM Modi, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said Modi remained in India only during elections and left as soon as they were over.

Taunting BJP over its "Abki-baar-Modi-sarkar" slogan in 2014 General Elections, he mocked, "Next time around, it will be 'fuska bar' (damp squib)."

He was addressing a rally at Vasai for May 28 Palghar LS by-poll.

Thackeray refuted the allegation of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis that Sena had betrayed the BJP by fielding the son of late MP Chintaman Wanaga in Palghar by-poll.

"The BJP dumped the Wanaga family after Chintaman Wanaga opposed the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project, and Wadhwan-port project," he claimed.

Fadnavis had said the BJP was planning to field someone from Wanaga family.

Thackeray alleged that BJP had betrayed the people. "You had promised to bring 'acche din' or deposit Rs. 15L in people's bank accounts, which is a betrayal of the people."

Targeting Rajendra Gavit, BJP's candidate in Palghar-bypoll, Sena chief said when Gavit was in opposition, he had said he would rather let the bullet train pass over him than allowing the project go ahead.

Referring to allegations of horse-trading ahead of the Karnataka floor test last week, Thackeray sought to know why the BJP could not spare some money for the Wanaga family.

"The Wanaga family came to meet me with tears in their eyes and no one can buy tears," he said and expressed confidence that Shrinivas Wanaga would win the by-poll.
