A medical examination found that the boy was bleeding in the brain and eyes, and it was later confirmed that he had suffered from abusive head trauma, or shaken infant syndrome.

Judiciary Police officers arrested the baby's caregiver, a Vietnamese domestic worker, in an apartment in Taipa Grande at 2pm on Sunday on suspicion of negligence causing bodily harm.

It was understood that the boy's father is a local businessman who employed the domestic worker last year through an employment agency to take care of the baby boy.

The baby is in critical condition at the hospital.
