Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) has announced Tadmur Holding, a diversified Qatari conglomerate, as the official sponsor of the Qatar Sustainability Awards 2017.
The Qatar Sustainability Awards 2017, organised by QGBC, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), recognises the commitment and achievements of individuals, institutions, and organizations in furthering sustainable development and environmental protection in Qatar and internationally.
Taking place during the Qatar Green Building Conference and Qatar Sustainability Week, the award winners will be announced at the Qatar Sustainability Awards Gala Dinner on October 29.
Tadmur Holding CEO, Dafer Hallawa, said: 'Tadmur Holding is a leading contributor to the development of infrastructure and construction in Qatar. Through its contracting company, it has achieved great leaps in distinguishing itself locally for completed and ongoing construction projects such as Qatar Airways' premium terminal at Doha International Airport, Ladies Club at Aspire Zone, Qatar University's library, Qatar Univercity's Engineering building multi-story car park, and the Hamad Bin Khalifa University Student Center at QF, to name a few, in addition to many residential, commercial, and education projects.
'We are proud to present Evergreen, our state-of-the-art LEED Gold Certified Commercial Building located in Lusail as a tangible commitment to establishing a benchmark on sustainable practices in the construction industry aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.
'As a pioneer of green practices in the private sector, it is an honor to sponsor the Sustainability Awards, along with QGBC, to reward and encourage more companies to join this endeavour, he added.
Meanwhile, Engineer Meshal Al Shamari, QGBC Director, said: 'We thank Tadmur Holding as official sponsor, and appreciate the active support we receive for the Qatar Sustainability Awards 2017 from the wide spectrum of those working towards the common goal of a sustainable future in Qatar. Building on the success of the first Qatar Sustainability Awards held last year, QGBC is expecting another memorable occasion where Qatar's sustainability industry gathers together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of 2017.
Nominations are still open for the Qatar Sustainability Awards 2017, with a deadline for submissions to QGBC of September 30.
The awards are open to government, corporate entities, and non-profit organizations, with a diverse range of categories including green buildings, green hospitality, green service providers, building products and technologies, green research, and sustainability initiatives.
A shortlist of the candidates will be announced on October 15 following an expert jury review of the nominations.
