(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – The 2017-2018 school year will see "pilot experiments" in language learning to test new methods of linguistic teaching, according to the Minister of National Education, Mohamed Hassad.
For primary school, languages will be taught using new methods. Arabic teaching will be performed differently, while French will be introduced to primary school students starting the first year, reported the daily Assabah, in its Sept. 13 edition.
To ensure the best atmosphere of learning, the minister told the daily that in first and second grades of primary school, classrooms will be limited to 30 students, while other levels will not be larger than 34 children per class.
For middle and high school, the ministry aims to develop students' linguistic competences throughout the six-year period. For instance, French will be taught more comprehensively in high schools, as it will be introduced into the teaching of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, added Assabah.
An international branch will also be established in high schools as a "pilot" experiment, said the newspaper.
The minister also plans to increase the educational workforce by offering 24,000 teaching positions before the upcoming academic year. The Ministry of Education recruited lately 11,000 teachers in order to rectify the lack of educators in the kingdom.
