Lydian International signs up to cyanide code

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - N.America) Lydian International (TSX:LYD) has added its signature to the International Cyanide Management Code, the protocol that governs the manufacture, transport and use of the acid in gold production.

Signing the code will mean it applies to its under-construction Amulsar gold mine in Armenia.

While voluntary, the code commits Lydian to implement its principles and to have regular verification audits of its operation carried out by independent auditors.

"We are committed to building the Amulsar Gold Project in line with industry best practices and becoming a signatory to the Cyanide Code is a significant step towards that goal,' said Howard Stevenson Lydian's chief executive.

Amulsar in south-central Armenia is expected to start production in 2018 and contains an estimated three million measured and indicated ounces and 2 million inferred.
