Passengers crew evacuated from Madrid Riyadh after bomb threat

MADRID: Spanish authorities evacuated allpassengers and crew from a flight bound for Riyadh SaudiArabia at Madrid's Barajas international airport after a bombthreat on Thursday Spain's airport operator Aena said.

Aena said they had later downgraded the alarm from generalto local meaning the alert would not affect other flights.

Saudi Arabian airlines flight SVA 226 was grounded beforetaking off after the pilot became aware of a note with a bombthreat the Interior Minister Jose Fernandez Diaz said inparliament.

El Pais newspaper said the note with "bomb threat" writtenin English was pinned to a baggage compartment in the planewith a knife.

The plane which was seen at the airport with the inflatableramps extended and fire crew nearby has since been isolatedwhile an investigation is carried out.
