DHA's 1st International Conference on Emergency Nursing opens in Dubai

DUBAI 13th December 2015 (WAM) -- The Dubai Health Authority's DHA 1st International Conference on Emergency Nursing opened today at the Rashid Medical Library Auditorium in Dubai which will discuss latest trends in evidence-based contemporary emergency nursing.

The five-day conference is organised by Rashid Hospital. Emergency nursing is a nursing specialty concerned with the care of patients who are experiencing emergencies or who are critically ill or injured.

Nidal Abukubbah Director of Nursing at Rashid Hospital said: "The growing demand for emergency care is a global phenomenon. Nurses in both the developed and developing world face challenges in delivering timely and effective emergency care. This conference provides an opportunity for clinicians involved in the delivery of emergency care globally to collaborate share ideas discuss challenges and solutions with an aim to lead innovative change to enhance quality patient care."

Abukubbah added that emergency nursing is a specialty that encompasses caring for patients of all age groups and conditions from delivering babies and resuscitating trauma arrests to administering medication. The pace of emergency nursing also varies and often the pace is extremely quick in life saving situations. "Therefore emergency nursing is a particularly challenging field and discussion and implementation of evidence-based polices help enhance delivery of care."

He added that the conference will discuss several topics including disaster management specialties in emergency care quality and safety in emergency care patient safety etc.
