China to invest USD45.6b worth of projects in Pakistan


(MENAFN) The Chinese government and banks will finance Chinese companies to build USD45.6 billion worth of energy and infrastructure projects in Pakistan over the next six years, Khaleej Times reported.

According to the deal, which was signed by Pakistan's Prime Minister during a visit to China earlier this month, the Chinese companies will be able to operate the projects as profit-making entities.

Earlier documents revealed showed that China has promised to invest around USD33.8 billion in various energy projects and USD11.8 billion in infrastructure projects in Pakistan.

Pakistan's president signed more than 20 agreements during his trip to China earlier this month, including USD622 million for projects related to the deepwater and strategically important Gwadar port.
