Pakistan Declares State of Emergency in Face of Monsoon Rains


(MENAFN- QNA) Pakistan announced Sunday a state of emergency in Punjab province, four days after it faced monsoon rain that killed around 150 people.

Authorities in Punjab province have upped their efforts in rescuing and aiding those who suffered from the monsoon rain impact. Pakistan and India suffer every year from widespread flooding during the annual monsoon season. In 2010, flash floods killed 1,700 people in Pakistan. India has lost 108 people this year.

More than 4,000 homes In Pakistan so far have been destroyed by the rain, leaving thousands of people without a home.
