(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif wants to politically tackle the challenge arising from the PTI's Azadi March in Islamabad on August 14.
He has given the task to important ministers to contact the PTI leaders. Sources said the government ministers will try to convince the PTI leadership to confine their march to F-9 Park, Jinnah Sports Complex or somewhere near Faizabad in the federal capital.
The sources said the prime minister has been given a report by the intelligence agencies that the long march of Imran Khan's PTI may create some law and order situation in the wake of ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The sources said Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and some other important PML-N leaders advised the prime minister in a meeting that house arrest of Imran Khan will be counterproductive and will increase the difficulties of the PML-N government, so the government should avoid this step.
Till the last minute, every effort will be made to convince the PTI chief to shift his march to a place where the government could easily provide security. Chaudhry Nisar had also pointed out that the PML-N ministers should be barred from giving harsh statements against the PTI in order to calm down the atmosphere.
The prime minister was of the view that he was against the use of force and wanted a political solution to the problem. Nawaz Sharif tasked important ministers to try to convince the PTI leadership to change their protest venue.
Meanwhile, it is revealed that a third party was holding secret talks with the PTI on behalf of the government. A senior PPP leader was playing this role and it is expected that a deal will be finalised very soon.
Alleged irregularities during the general elections and proposed Azadi March by the PTI are the main issues which are discussed in the secret talks. The third party is reportedly playing the mediating role after green signal by the PPP cochairman Asif Ali Zardari.
On the other hand, the government has planned to get the support of lawyers to tackle the PTI challenge. The government is reportedly hiring the Supreme Court Bar Association office holders and their nominees as legal advisers in different government institutions.
Initially, all the 22 members of the Bar have been offered to join as legal advisers. Some have agreed, while some have nominated their other lawyer colleagues.
