(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Ghdad July 16 (QNA) - US Vice President Joe Biden has stressed his readiness to work closely with the new Iraqi Parliament Speaker in order to speed up the election of the President of the Republic and the formation of a new government within the constitutional framework and specific timelines.
This came during Biden's telephone conversation on Tuesday with the new Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jubouri according to a statement issued by al-Jubouri's office.
The statement said the two sides discussed the latest developments in the current political scene and the current phase in Iraq.
Biden also expressed his pleasure for the election of the new Speaker and his two deputies the statement added.
Salim al-Jubouri MP from the Union of Forces National was elected Tuesday as president of the House of Representatives at its third meeting after receiving a majority of 194 votes out of 273 votes. (QNA)
