(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KHARTOUM, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir ordered on Sunday the release of all Political prisoners, particularly those who led last month's protests against the government economic policies.

"We also seeks to deal with the cause not the symptom of the problem," Sudanese President's aide Abdulrahman Al-Sadeq told reporters in front of Kober prison in central Khartoum.

He pointed out that the president would reach out to political parties to end pillarization in the country which led to the protests and arrests.

"We will respect human rights and end political polarization to help achieve the state interests through national consensus." The state TV reported that 80 political prisoners in Kober prison were set free and political prisoners in other prisons would be released in the coming hours.

Scores of political activates were detained by security forces last month after a series of massive anti-government protests over basic commodities price rise. (end) mmm.ibi
