Kuwait- 'Over 33,000 students suffer from behavioral problems'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: The Ministry of Education has made addressing the issue of behavioral problems of students of both genders as on one of its priorities, reports Al-Jarida daily.

A study said 33,294 students (9.8 percent) out of a total of 338,192 suffered from behavioral problems in the academic year 2016/2017, mainly disorder of sexual identity, verbal and physical abuse of teachers and abuse of alcohol and drugs. The Education Ministry in reference to the annual report of the Department of Psychosocial Services, pointed out most of the problems experienced by school students from emotional aspects are low self-confidence, depression, constant tension, fear, restlessness and psychological imbalance.

The problem of verbal abuse reached its peak in the girls' schools, topped by the primary stage, physical aggression was second and the highest level was in primary school for boys. The problem of smoking was sixth with 1,508 cases in boys' schools, and 30 cases in girls' schools, two of which are in primary schools.
