Zelensky Says Ready To Halt Along Frontline If Ceasefire Is Declared Tomorrow

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Ukrainian leader stated this in an interview with Axios , Ukrinform reports.

When asked whether Ukraine is ready for any territorial concessions, Zelensky replied: "No, we will never recognize these temporarily occupied territories as Russian territory. We can't do it."

He stressed that the issue is not about square kilometers but about the people living under occupation, whom Ukraine cannot betray.

The journalist clarified that the question was not about recognition of territory but rather whether Zelensky would accept a situation where "the border was here and now it's here, what can I do?"

Zelensky responded: "If you look at today's situation - if a ceasefire is [declared] tomorrow, everyone stops, and if we don't have the power to bring back these territories now, so we are ready to speak about it. We are ready to get it back sometime in the future - through diplomacy, not with weapons."

He added that he considers this a good compromise for everyone.

Following his meeting with Zelensky on Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump said that given Russia's current situation, Ukraine is capable of regaining all territories seized by the aggressor state.
