Northern Jordan Valley, Dec. 12 (Petra)-- Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya inspected, on Thursday, the sheikh Hussein Bridge crossing in the northern Jordan Valley and received an update on the daily operations and traffic flow at the crossing.
In front of Irbid Governor Radwan Al-Atoum and representatives from the business and industrial sectors, Al-Faraya talked about ways to speed up the crossing process and ensure that goods move smoothly, particularly given how busy the crossing is with cargo transportation.
The tour's objective, according to Al-Faraya, is to examine the work done at the crossing and emphasize its significance as a route for exported goods as well as relief and humanitarian aid, including medical aid delivered through field hospitals, to the people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Due to delays on the other side of the crossing, Minister Al-Faraya highlighted some of the challenges the crossing had in moving vehicles ready for export, which caused their numbers to drop by a third this year compared to last.
Al-Faraya conducted a tour of the truck parking lots outside the crossing and oversaw the delivery of a number of services that help truck drivers and contribute to local environmental and public safety.
In order to guarantee efficient movement and transit across Sheikh Hussein Bridge, the Interior Minister also examined the region that is being renovated to handle a significant number of freight vehicles.
