On the margins of the World Climate Summit COP29, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the Crown Prince of Kuwait sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The head of state noted that Kuwait is an important partner of Kazakhstan in the Arab world.

The President emphasized the sustainable development of bilateral political dialogue and economic interaction, reaffirming Kazakhstan's commitment to strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Kuwait. He also expressed confidence that Kuwait has the potential to become one of the major investors in Kazakhstan's economy, citing the successful activities of Kuwaiti companies as an example.

The interlocutors agreed to intensify trade and economic ties with a focus on the implementation of joint investment projects.

Special attention was paid to cooperation within multilateral structures, including the Central Asia-Gulf Cooperation Council format.

At the end of the meeting, President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev extended an invitation to the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to visit Kazakhstan.

To note, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will run until November 22, opened on November 11 at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

The event is the largest organized by Azerbaijan to date and is the first time the region has hosted the event in Azerbaijan. Within COP29, the highest-level event - the summit of world leaders on climate action - will be held on November 12–13.

The main expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) on climate finance. The COP29 chairmanship has launched 14 initiatives that include linkages between climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals, including green energy corridors, green energy storage, harmony for climate resilience, clean hydrogen, methane reduction in organic waste, action on green digital technologies, and other topics.
