Azerbaijan Proceeds With Construction Of Hydropower Plants In Its Lachin District


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. construction of hydropower plants (HPPs) in Azerbaijan's Lachin district continues, acting executive director of the Restoration, Construction, and Management Service in the Lachin district Tofig Islamov said during a panel discussion at the Caspian Construction Week in Baku today, Trend reports.

According to him, in line with the green energy strategy, HPPs have been built and are being built in 11 places of the district, resulting in the production of more than 80 million kilowatt-hours of green energy.

More than 20 million cubic meters of natural gas were saved, and 32,000 tons of carbon dioxide were prevented from being released into the atmosphere, the official explained.

He pointed out that, in accordance with the COP29 plan, the restoration and construction process places a focus on environmental protection and the use of alternative energy sources.

"Solar panels have been installed on the rooftops of buildings, and hybrid solar lamps provide urban lighting. In 24 private houses, solar panels have been set up to ensure stable electricity supply, and nine private homes are connected to solar collectors. All residential buildings, as well as two schools and administrative buildings in Zabukh and Sus villages, are equipped with solar batteries," he added.

To note, from October 15 through 17, the Caspian Construction Week is taking place at the Baku Expo Center, which is an important event in the construction industry of the region. Caspian Construction Week brings together various companies in the construction industry from several countries of the world on a single platform. Currently, more than 380 companies from 22 countries are represented at exhibitions held as part of the Caspian Construction Week.
