Kazakhstan Unveils 2030 Vision For Hydrogen Energy Dev't

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 13. Kazakhstan has officially approved its "Concept for the Development of Hydrogen Energy until 2030", says Kazakh energy Ministry, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry, this document serves as a crucial framework for advancing Kazakhstan's hydrogen energy sector and addressing pressing environmental challenges. It highlights several key areas, including the national goal of achieving carbon neutrality and fulfilling international commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The concept emphasizes the development of innovative hydrogen technologies and aims to attract significant investments for pilot projects in this field. These initiatives are designed to integrate cutting-edge technologies and create new opportunities within the country's energy landscape.

The anticipated implementation of this concept is expected to enhance Kazakhstan's position in the global energy arena, marking a significant step toward achieving carbon neutrality.

Additionally, expanding hydrogen energy is integral to Kazakhstan's broader strategy for transitioning to a green economy and promoting sustainable development. This strategic focus not only aligns with global energy trends but also positions Kazakhstan as a potential leader in the emerging hydrogen economy, thereby enhancing its economic resilience and environmental stewardship.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan entered the global hydrogen landscape in June 2021 when the Swedish-German energy company Svevind announced plans to produce green hydrogen through its HyrasiaOne project. With a projected cost of $50 billion, this initiative is expected to become one of the largest of its kind in the world.

In November 2022, Astana signed a strategic partnership agreement with Brussels aimed at advancing green hydrogen and critical raw materials, and in March 2023, Germany established a Hydrogen Diplomacy Office in Kazakhstan.
