Turkmenistan Keen To Larger Energy-Transit Co-Op With Kazakhstan - President


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 10. Turkmenistan is ready to actively cooperate with Kazakhstan to noticeably increase energy supplies and transit, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at the extended talks with President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports via Turkmenistan's official media.

“The common asset already includes an implemented major energy project - the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline. Turkmenistan is ready to consider together with Kazakh partners opportunities for a noticeable increase in energy supplies and expansion of their transit configuration,” the head of state said.

The President also added that the level of trust and mutual understanding between the countries allows to confidently build long-term plans, developing trade and economic interaction.

Furthermore, Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the agro-industrial complex, chemical industry, machine building, and textile industry as promising areas for further cooperation. He also proposed the establishment of cross-border trade zones to boost bilateral partnerships and expand the mutual supply of goods.

The sides reaffirmed the determination of both countries to deepen strategic cooperation, which was facilitated by the signing of several key documents.

To note, President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev is in Ashgabat on an official visit to participate in the forum "The Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development" to be held on October 11.

The forum will be a platform for international dialog, where participants will be able to discuss current global political, economic, and humanitarian problems, as well as express their views on the development of international relations. Heads of Central Asian states and other countries are expected to participate in the event.
