BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. Topics related to
climate change will be integrated into educational programs in
Azerbaijan, the Deputy Minister of Science and Education of
Azerbaijan Idris Isayev said at the opening ceremony of the final
day of the international conference within the framework of the
Climate Action Week in Baku, Trend reports.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that education is the name of the
game when it comes to tackling the challenges posed by climate
change.
“The best way to educate the population, especially youth and
children, is through educational institutions. In secondary and
higher education, it is necessary to take concrete steps in this
direction. In the academic year 2024/2025, not only is there an
increase in enrollment in higher education, but also an increased
interest in specialties related to climate change. Educational
programs will be modified to strengthen the training of specialists
in this field. We need to develop a strategy to train young people
in green skills, and educational and scientific institutions should
be actively involved,” he said.
The climate science conference titled "Accelerating Research and
Collaboration for Climate Action" started on the final day of
"Climate Action Week" dedicated to COP29 in Baku.
The conference agenda includes panel discussions on the
following topics:“Revolution in our understanding of GHG
emissions: role of empirical data, AI, and advanced analytics,"
“Role of Global and Regional Collaboration in Overcoming Scientific
Challenges," and“Impact of Climate Change & Paradigm Shifts on
Transboundary Water Management."
The“Climate Action Week” being held in Baku for the first time
brings together key participants from different spheres: politics,
