Participants Of Int'l Baku Forum Of Ombudsmen Start Their Visit To Azerbaijan's Territories Liberated From Occupation (PHOTO)

On the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with the support of the Azerbaijani state, the visit of the participants of the Int'l Baku Forum of Ombudsmen on the topic "Climate Change and Human Rights: The Role of the Ombudsman and National Human Rights Institutions” to the territories liberated from Occupation has started, Trend reports.

According to the information, Azerbaijani Ombudsperson Sabina Aliyeva, as well as Ombudsmen from Türkiye, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines, Kenya, Northern Macedonia, Morocco, and Moldova, heads of National Human Rights Institutions, information commissioners, and human rights experts, are taking part in the visit.

The Baku Int'l Baku Forum of Ombudsmen on Climate Change and Human Rights was held on October 2 with the participation of more than 60 guests from nearly 30 countries, including ombudsmen and representatives of national human rights institutions, information commissioners, high-ranking government officials, heads and representatives of civil society institutions, several international organizations, and experts in the field of climate change and human rights - in total, more than 200 people took part in the event.

The forum discussed the problems caused by global climate change and the ways to solve them from the point of view of human rights and exchanged positive experiences in this field.

The Declaration of the International Baku Ombudspersons Forum was announced and adopted in conclusion.

The Declaration will contribute to strengthening the role of ombudsmen and national human rights institutions in solving environmental problems, as well as raising awareness in the relevant field.
