Kazakhstan Railways' Xi'an Terminal Boosts Middle Corridor By Twentyfold
The leadership of JSC "NC KTZ" met with Shaanxi Province Governor Zhao Gang in Xi'an, China, during the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route forum.
Shaanxi, one of China's largest provinces with a population of over 40 million and a GDP exceeding $470 billion, is home to the Kazakhstan-China terminal, located at the dry port in Xi'an.
Currently, 30% of container trains heading to Europe via Kazakhstan are formed at this port, and 40% of the imported goods to the port come from Kazakhstan. Delivery times to Azerbaijan have been cut to 11 days, and to Georgia, 14 days.
The meeting also focused on two key joint projects with the dry port: the construction of a new logistics center in Almaty and the CRK Terminal logistics center at Selyatino station in the Moscow region, Russia. They also discussed the potential for developing infrastructure projects along the TMTM route, including in Europe.
Both sides emphasized that cooperation under China's Belt and Road Initiative not only boosts transit transport and strengthens economic ties but also creates significant strategic advantages for both countries.
