Baku Stock Exchange Keen Issuing Green Bonds - Chairman

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. The Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) is ready to facilitate the issuance of green bonds on its platform, Chairman of the Board of BSE CJSC, Ruslan Khalilov, said at a press conference, Trend reports.

"Two or three Azerbaijani companies are planning to issue green bonds in Azerbaijan, and their activities are related to alternative energy. We maintain contact with these companies. They aim to raise funds through green bonds to finance part of the capital expenditures for their green energy projects. Our work with them is ongoing," Khalilov stated.

He emphasized that the issuance of green bonds takes into account the fact that the proceeds will be used for actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Regarding the BSE's activities during the COP29 event in Azerbaijan, Khalilov noted that there will be an event focusing on investment companies and potential securities issuers.

"The BSE is a member of the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative. Within this framework, regular meetings and briefings are held on attracting financing for sustainable development and funding green initiatives," Khalilov added.

To note, BSE has operated for 30 years and has just implemented a new three-year development strategy.
