UN Voices Gratitude To Azerbaijan For Prioritizing Climate Transparency Issues


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. The United Nations is grateful to Azerbaijan for prioritizing climate transparency issues, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva said during the High-Level Dialogue on "Boosting climate transparency through universal participation in the enhanced transparency framework (ETF)" held today in Baku, Trend reports.

"The UN urges countries around the world to submit their first Biennial Transparency Reports (BTR) by the end of this year. The UN also recommends that states report on the total greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors of the economy," she also said.

For tracking climate change progress and implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Andreeva said these reports are essential.

Besides, the official emphasized that the UN will continue to support Azerbaijan in preparing for COP29 and launching the Baku Global Transparency Platform.

"The United Nations also expresses its gratitude to Azerbaijan for establishing the Baku Global Transparency Platform," she added.
