Azerbaijan's Parliamentary Election Has Both National, Regional Influence - Matthew Bryza

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12. The parliamentary election in Azerbaijan has both national and regional influence, a Board Member of the Jamestown Foundation Matthew Bryza told the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission's (CEC) Election-2024 Independent media Center, Trend reports.

Recalling that the snap parliamentary election will be held across the entire territory of Azerbaijan, the international expert pointed out that the election is important for the democratic development of each country.

"In September of last year, Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty. By conducting rapid and successful measures, it eliminated factors that posed a constant threat to the territorial integrity of the country.

Undoubtedly, this factor has significantly increased the importance of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

Holding the election before COP29 will further strengthen Azerbaijan's global standing. I welcome this process," added Bryza.

On June 28, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree dissolving the sixth convocation of the Azerbaijani Parliament and scheduling a snap election for September 1.
