Azerbaijan's Final Place In Medal Standings At Paris Olympics Announced


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. Azerbaijan's final place in the medal standings at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris has been announced, Trend reports.

The Azerbaijani team, which won 7 medals at the Olympic Games, shared 30-31 places with Croatia.

Azerbaijani judokas Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg) became Olympic champions, taekwondoist Gashim Magomedov (58 kg) and boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg) won silver medals, Greco-Roman wrestler Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), freestyle wrestlers Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) brought bronze medals to Azerbaijan.

Thus, in the medal count, Azerbaijan improved the result achieved at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. At the competitions held in the capital of Japan, Azerbaijani athletes won 3 silver and 4 bronze medals and took 67th place in the medal count.

Azerbaijan was represented by 48 athletes in 15 sports at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
